Belated Friday Five
Aug. 4th, 2002 01:30 pmWhat is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?
My Mom is half German and half Scotch/Irish/English. On my Dad's side, we know the surname is English (courtesy of some Mormon relatives) and we know my grandmother's grandmother was Cherokee (although no one knows her name, other than "the first Mrs. Tom ----"). Other than that, he says, "H*ll, they came to Texas trying to *keep* people from finding out where they were from!"
Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?
All of them, but not because of my "roots", just cause I like to travel. I have been to the Eastern Cherokee Heritage musem in the area my g-g-grandmother came from.
Which would you least like to visit? Why?
What's not to like?
Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?
My company gives each employee one floating holiday each year to be used for religious or cultural holidays. I use it to celbrate my Texas heritage each year to go the State Fair during the week when the crowds are less.
Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc.)?
The B. surname came to this contient sometime in the 1700s. My German g-g-grandparents came over around the time of the Civil War. The rest is all a guess.
