It's that time of year again. My resolutions this year:

1. File for divorce. We've been separated two years and I need to move on. Although no-one has used the D word yet, I think he knows it's coming and is adjusted enough he won't have another breakdown. I have the name of a lawyer and will call for an appointment before the end of January.

2. Get more exercise. My excess weight, bad back, arthritis, blood sugar and high blood pressure demand it. The goal is 1/2 hour of exercise (walking, etc) 5 times a week. Minimum level is 15 min 3 times a week. Also do the tape of exercises for my back with a goal of 3 times a week and a minimum level of once a week.

3. Get my eating back under control. I was doing ok until the holidays. I don't need to worry about a specific diet, but I will try to make more healthy choices and I will *write*everything*down*, even if I shouldn't have eaten it. I tend to not deviate from my eating plan so much if I know it will all be there in black and white, even if no one else sees it.

4. Get the apt de-cluttered enough to get a cleaning service on a regular basis. I have made great strides over the holidays. This has been a life long goal -- I hate housework and I'm lousy at it. So I can spend 3 or 4 hours doing a lousy job of cleaning the house, or I can work one hour at a job I'm good at & enjoy, and make the money to pay someone else to clean. But first they have to be able to reach the areas to clean.

5. Make more effort to stay in contact with people. In grades K - 12, I attended 20 different schools. I learned early on that you knew people for a few months or maybe even a year, then you moved and you never saw them again. I never learned the skills of keeping contact with people when distance or conflicting schedules or whatever makes it hard to get face to face with them for a while. So I have shamefully neglected even friends who live quite close. I need to get better at that.

I think that's enough for one year -- let's see how I do. Hopefully next year I can make a new set of resolutions instead of recycling the ones from this year.
