My crazy cat

There is a row of low bushes outside one window in my living room that for some reason attracts birds. I have seen as many as 6 or 7 birds perched on top of the bushes or hopping from branch to branch within the bushes. This makes for fascinating Kitty TV and my two cats (Heckle and Tucker) can spend hours watching them. Recently Tucker has decided he has to get these birds. Batting at the window with his paw was bad enough, but now he is trying to leap at them. Unfortunately he only succeeds in banging his head on the window. In the last two days I have observed him do it once and twice have seen him sitting on by the window shaking his head, after hearing a loud THUMP. I hope he learns better soon.

(Ouch! He just did it again!)

I can see Tucker now:

"Eat pointy death, avian dogs! Zoiks and away!"

(*whump!*)

"...nasty birds, we hates them forever!"

(*thump!*)

"...I know I remember being on the attack. Somewhere over here..."

(*whap*)

"...mind if I just lie down here for a minute?"

I think I figured out what he's going for. I have seen a half fledged bird on the bush. He can obviously fly a little, but is not too sure of himself yet (frex, he spends most of his time flapping his wings to keep his balance). I have also seen an adult bird come feed him. I think Tucker just figures this one he has a chance at, and he is trying to do his predator best to cull the weak and sick from the flock.
